you all loved Lua so i thought id put another one out there :) enjoy

Poison oak, some boyhood bravery
When the telephone was a tin can on a string
And I fell asleep with you still talking to me
You said you weren't afraid to die
In polaroids you were dressed in women's clothes
Were you made ashamed, why'd you lock them in a drawer?
Well, I don't think that I ever loved you more

Than when you turned away, when you slammed the door
When you stole the car and drove towards Mexico
And you wrote bad checks just to fill your arm
I was young enough, I still believed in war

Well let the poets cry themselves to sleep
And all their tearful words will turn back into steam

But me, I'm a single cell on the serpent's tongue
There's a muddy field where a garden was
And I'm glad you got away but I'm still stuck out here
My clothes are soaking wet from your brother's tears

And I never thought this life was possible
You're the yellow bird that I've been waiting for

The end of paralysis, I was a statuette
Now I'm drunk as hell on a piano bench
And when I press the keys it all gets reversed
The sound of loneliness makes me happier

  • This song brings emotions up that I never want to talk or think about. I can't describe it.

  • connors voice just makes this so much better. his words bring me at one with my feelings. he brings out the ups and the downs to life. i wish that more people liked his kind of music, and understood. understood how to not be so simple minded. that life isnt all about drugs and "bitches". i actually FEEL his music. when he sings "the sound of loneliness makes me happier" it gives me the chills. he is just so.. real. by far my favorite artist.

  • sometimes i wish i were connor... but in the same breath im glad he's him, and i'm me. and that we are both

  • @ajperrin3 hmm,ill check it out,thanks

  • @fallenangel0674 You should really read James Joyce's Ulysses (with a readers guide, of course)... That's exactly the pain that the "minor poet," Stephen, has to deal with in his own self-exile.

  • @fallenangel0674 i love you because of your comment. it's so deep and relevant.

  • @specha123 I cry almost every time it comes on on my ipod. It's amazing.

  • @AMIDEADYET1231 You're a piece of shit.

  • @fallenangel0674 I can't even begin to say amen enough to EVERYTHING you just said.

  • i love this song, the line "let the poets cry themselves to sleep" makes me cry, because i know its true.Im an unpublished poet...well...one of my poems is published...but its a school thing so idk if it counts...but anyway, almost every night,i cry myself to sleep because i know that, were i live now, is even farther from were i belong. My past home,at least i felt SOME sense that that was home. but anyway...i cant help thinking this song describes my life...the one thats BEHIND my fake smile
