911 caddy knows his stuff. In rural areas and terrain where you had a lot of hills and curves, the only warning oncoming motorists had to what was ahead was the white beam surfing off the tops of trees, telephone poles, and buildings.

If you were at the top of a hilly drive or highway the Hill light would shine from below grade on fixed objects and water crystals in the air before the you and the rig would meet.LED's don't do that! Keep it classic.

Growing up as a kid, and watching fire trucks with this style light, (commonly referred to as the bubble)It always amazed me that each truck had at least one bulb turned upwards. Any particular reason for that? Just curious.

thats pretty cool. ive seen a few of em on trucks, and i was always stumped by that, but now it makes perfect sense! thanks!

My all time favorite roof beacon
Especially on 85'snorkels and box rescue trucks from the 60's-80's
whats the point of the skyward beacon?

One reason I heard wa that back in the day..the two clear sealed beams that were also on the horizontal plane were too bright. So it was decided to have one just below the horizontal and one above. Deitz called this the "over and under" light. The Federal version was called the "hill light". At night you could see the emergency vehicle coming from a distance as the white/clear light would catch your attention as it was illuminating everything from below. It's a fun light to run at night!

Let's make that. The skyward light is illuminating everything above it from below. Trees, hydro poles, buildings etc..
