Okay, I misinterpretted waht I'd read.
This is the trailer Velvet Underworld [[or Under World, depending]], by the same creator of Weiss Kreuz. The title is also the main title song for WK [[which is what confused me]].

There are more similarities between VU and WK, though, so they are simliar, but they do not follow the same story line.

VU takes palce in Tokyo, Japan, and centers around Uruyu Tomoe...a new detective. He's seriously injured after falling into some dirty nusiness, but a girl named Velvet, or V, rescues him. His past memory before the time of his incident remains hazy. He was robbed of everything and the names of thirteen murderers who attacked him were engraved in his skin at that time. He's recruited as an underworld executioner by V and inherits the legendary assassin's code name: Aya.
He's only one of the 13 recruited by the police to take down the crimnals cut loose by the court. He arranges his teams depending on situation, sometimes requesting all 13.

According to Jonah Morgan, "His [ Takehito Koyasu] official title is "editor" and credited with conceiving the original story on the VU project, which at this point remains unformatted (ie: TV, Movie etc..), being referred to simply as "animation" and "multimedia". Character designs come courtesy Kuya Sakaki, production via RADIX mobanimation, Wedge Holdings. The producer is listed as Koichi Kikuchi, Planning and production are being carried out by Velvet Kingdom. An image song titled "ALTERNATIVE" has already been created, Shiu Kagaya, composed by Kazuya Nishioka and performed by The Man himself. The target audience at this point for the anime are women in their late 20's."
[[Yay! Internet research!]]
I'm excited, and I'm not even in my 20's yet XD I love Weiss...even though the '98 TV series was done rather poorly [[hand drawings D: no computer, if I remember correctly for some parts]]

I do not own this nor am I in any way affiliated with this production. The only opinions I claim as mine are the brackets and beyond.

  • There's no info on Wiki or IMDB, and AnimeNewsNetwork just mentions the music videos and drama CDs ... but still, it looks interesting. I remember reading about a new Kosayu Takehito project somewhere, and driving myself crazy because I couldn't remember what it was called, or any information about it except the main character's name.

Btw, I got into Weiss at age 19, and from what I've seen on fansites, the majority of fans seem to be in their late teens/early twenties. ;)

  • @orangeblossom03 The age range doesn't surprise me. It didn't strike me as something anyone much younger would really show much interest in. I think I was about 15 or 16 when I got into it; I've always enjoyed shows and movies with spies and assassins and the like, though.

  • So this Aya is not the same Aya/Ran Fujimiya from Weiss Kreuz?I've been looking for information about the series but I haven't been able to find any. I hope he's not planning on bringing back Weiss, since I was really disappointed about the drama CDs. This series looks pretty cool, is it out yet?

  • @orangeblossom03 From what I remember about it, it's made by the same people but doesn't follow the same storyline at all.

And apparently it came out May 28, but I'm not finding anything on it, now. I can't even find news articles or announcements on it.
