Excellent call. Dispatch the poseurs with the facts: cold, brutal, and insurmountable. Nice.

That would make Ringo Starr not only a legendary musician, but also an astonishing all-seeing, all-knowing clairvoyant. The two tracks you describe were released literally decades after Ringo recorded this muscular bit of merry, mocking martial funk.
Perhaps you meant to say, "My Sweet Cherry Pie and Take Me Out sound like Ringo's Back Off Bugaloo..."

5urrealk1ller:
You mean Dave Essex's Rock On mined Back Off Bugaloo. Ringo released this hit in 1972; Essex released his record in 1973.
Actually, Ringo's demolishes Essex's quaaluded studio hokum: Ringo's martial drumming, which slips into muscular funk on the break, and George Harrison's seething and mocking slide guitar solo alone flame Essex's novelty "meh" into so much just-add-water-freeze-dried funk.

Dale E:
Agreed, but George Harrison's guitar style is noted for its elegant, melodic, often sophisticated harmonic approaches (T'il There Was You, Learning How to Love you) with the undercurrent of melancholy (She Said, Something, etc.). Here, Harrison kicks out the jams, so to speak. Knowledgeable guitarists appreciate Harrison's harmonic choices (diminished sevenths, mixolydian etc.), which actually are more sophisticated than the largely pentatonic-based guitar "heroics" of his era.

"Hay," marty, you might actually find out the facts before posting. David Essex released Rock on in 1973, one year after Ringo released Back Off Bugaloo. As for the "free ride," Ringo's idiosyncratic drumming, pointed song/production suggestions (e.g., the title for "Hard Day's Night," the tempos and styles of She Came in through the Bathroom Window, Get Back, etc.) and the string of solo hits that bested Lennon's sales and rivaled Paul's belie your blatantly unfounded pretensions.

Get your facts straight "smarty". The song you are referring to is "Rock On" and it was written one year AFTER Ringo recorded this song.

Hay Ringo. Don't run down Paul. He provided you with the free ride of a lifetime. And you stole the song from the "jimmy dean". You didn't think anyone would ever find out, but it's all over the computer.
