Canada's fur industry is fighting back against the perception that wearing its products is outdated and cruel by launching a million-dollar ad campaign pitching fur as environmentally friendly.

The ads, set to appear next week in national newspapers, depict a young, fur-clad woman as an environmental activist.

  • People wearing fur looks stupid. They look like uncivil savages.

Also fur is NOT green and a lot of fur from trappers goes on Polyester coats with nylon and real fur trim.

Cruelty is not green and it takes a lot of energy to gather, process and ship real fur.

Hick trappers burns a lot of gas to gather fur.

And they use million of dollars for stupid advertisement. I am no PETA member but I find it hypocritical people crying about PETA spending a lot on advertisement while fur does the same.

  • FUR IS WARM all people who wear it be proud of it and keep wearing it

  • wow this is a lame attempt to 'clean up' a horrible industry that not only hurts many species but the environment as well. LAME

  • @foxtacular - because it's green compared to other clothing alternatives such a cotton, gortex, nylon, polyester ect...

  • HA!!! sounds pretty desperate. consider the amount of energy to raise/feed these animals on fur farms - all of the gasoline driving up and down trap lines, energy used in dying, shaving, tanning, processing it - then showcasing it on runways, shipping it all over the world. doesn't sound very green to me.

it was never touted as "eco" before, why now?

  • The idea is really good and it is actually very green.

  • Bullshit. How cruel can a goverment be. How cynical and disgusting!!! SHAME ON CANADA!!! BOICOT THEM!!!

  • bullshit

all kinds off animals deserves to live

  • many of the chemicals used to perserve animal skins are pollutants to the enviroment. Also many endangered animals have been killed in fur traps. wearing fur is one of the worst things a person can do for the enviroment.
