Some background on this movie - it was shot in October 1928, for Movietone News in his garden at his Windlesham estate with his Irish terrier, Paddy. From the age of 16 to 24 I was a member of the Society of American Magicians. I got to meet some old-time tent magicians who explained how the tricks of the "spiritualists" were performed to fool gullible members of the public (known as "rubes"). Apparently, Sir A.C. Doyle was one of the unsuspecting "rubes." Not surprising when you consider that Uri Geller fooled even professors with his spoon-bending tricks. Professional magician James Randi explains all this in his books.

The great man himself. Strange how much he seems to dislike Sherlock Holmes in contrast to how much everyone else loves him. I found it odd when he said "The rather stupid Dr Watson".
