@hammerogod To finish first, first you have to finish!!
-
The big blocks were brutal on fuel and needed additional pit stops but they made up for it by being bullet proof.
When the Ferraris would break the Fords just kept on racing.
You have to finish a race to win it.

@sixtiesforever1966 Leroy Yarborough won the 1969 Daytona 500 driving a Boss 429 powered Torino Talladega
-
@B0SSNINE Only thing is Jack has a 96 mustang with a Wood Brothers 1970 BOSS 429 Motor in it.
Nothing More. The Boss 429 is called a Shot Gum Motor because of the configuration of the heads and they
only Run one year in NASCAR back in 1970

@whb1965 So basically a Boss 429 Mustang but with the Race-spec engine over the street 429?
Thats amazing!
=D
-
@B0SSNINE he built one from a 429 nascar blue cresent engine he got from the wood brothers. i have one too... lots of fun to drive.
-
@whb1965 What does a Boss 429 have to do with Jack Roush?
;D
-
@Eddiemotor I read somewhere that they did put a sohc'er in a GT40, and it was reported that they had to pull the engine after they scared themselves very badly with it's extra high speed.

interesting factoid about this 427...Ford dyno'ed it after Le Mans and it actually made more power with over 3,000 miles on it than it did factory fresh...it was barely broken in after 24hrs of racing!
