  • RIP Jon Blake

  • My great grandfathers fought aigainst the Allied forces at the western front from 1914 till 1918 and also when the Anzacs started charging. I have been to New Zealand last year and its just wonderful how we can live in peace now, having a few beers together, hitting a surf when theres offshore winds...100 years ago we were slaughtering each other. Glad we are Allies now.

  • @bsim2011 Same thing happens in all countries, no matter when the movies/series are made: the Burma film with Errol Flynn "forgot" who was fighting there were british and colonials, not americans. However, not a single brit is seen in the movie, only americans;

    The same happens in submarine movie U471 (don't remember the number), which is based on a real event performed by brits;

    If we try, we can find more examples of "we lick them all", be it american, Aussie, British, or nepalese.

  • Long time since I've seen this mini series- Thank you for posting! Unfortunately, I am a realist becuase I remember what Australian TV was like back in the 80's. Any miniseries about a war ( whether it be Vietnam, WW2 or WW1) made the Australians look as if they were unbeatable, as if they won these wars by themselves. Being a former US Military Officer, I do not like or appreicate Australian TV making American soldiers look like idiots. The ANZACS could be just as bad as any other army!

  • i love this show

  • I've searched everywhere on the net to find this series and finally i found it!!! thanks mate :D

  • @dessert57 that said, along with the Canadians, they were some of the most elite troops of the war.

  • Hats off to all our Austrailian/ New Zealand allies, now and

    then.

  • @reaper060670 for example, Australia lost 60,000 killed in WW1 out of a male population of only 2.5 million (2.4% lost), while New Zealand lost around 20,000 killed out of a male population of only 500,000! (4%)...tragic, and they have both never really recovered. You can't replace thoses losses overnight. The Anzacs, together with the Scots, lost the highest % of any country during that war.

  • @reaper060670 You apparently know nothing of the history of the causes of World War I and of the fighting of the war itself. Try reading "The Guns of August." Also, you should read Winston Churchill's history of WW1. About 11 million people died in WW1, including 2 members of the British cabinet. The British Prime Minister at the time the war broke out lost 2 or 3 sons in the trenches. WW1 lasted for 4 years, 2 months, and 2 weeks; not 5 years.
