First rate heart! Otis Redding cut out the core of this song, by not singing about segregation, and it started a trend that infected almost every other remake.... especially any mainstream. Essentially, American Pop culture proved itself heartless (my extreme opinion) and it turned into a weapon against the struggle for equality. Now, 2008 showed the truth, segregation in public schools is more prevalent now than any other time since the 50's. Thank You.
