Skeeter Davis and Bobby Bare
Let It be Me (Je t'appartiens)
Recorded: October 1964, RCA Victor Studio, Nashville

LET IT BE ME (Je t'appartiens)
(Mann Curtis - Pierre Delanoe - Gilbert Becaud)
I bless the day I found you I want to stay around you
And so I beg you let it be me
Don't take this heaven from one if you must cling to someone
Now and forever let it be me

Each time we meet love I find complete love
Without your sweet love what would life be
So never leave me lonely tell me you love me only
And that you always let it be me

If for each bit of gladness someone must taste of sadness
I beg the sorrow please let it be me
And no matter how the price is I'll make the sacrifices
For each new tomorrow just let it be me

Each time we meet love...
Let it be me

  • Wonderful! Great blending of their voices. Skeeter is gone from us but never

    forgotten.

  • A nostalgic song that reopens the vault of yesteryear memories... lovely... and make us realise that now we are in our golden years. Yet we are still young at heart... ha ha.

  • This classic reminds me that there are many more years behind me than ahead.

  • Thank you so much for this song. I remember the song. Great song.

  • @Fegen Yes, Isn't that so .

  • I love the song and these two are great

  • this is very good long time i was looking for this country classic

  • @wilsonchidi Actually, it was written by a French singer, Gilbert Becaud. Many Americans covered the song with English lyrics later.

  • Oldie , but goody, One of my favorite duets

  • Too good to be forgotten! Absolutely romantic and sentimental! Brings back pure days of pure Love!

  • This is a very good version, although I am not really a Bobby Bare fan, and really like Skeeter's part. My favorite version, though is by Jerry (The Iceman) Butler and Betty Everett (RIP). watch?v=i22xbY4u2iI\
