Thunderstorms began popping up around 10:30 PM in the SW Suburbs, then continued forming into a squall line of persistent thunderstorms that would last most of the night. The storms moved through the cities from SW to NE, then formed an almost stationary line from West to East. Locally, there were rainfall totals with these storms over 8 inches!

These storms would set the conditions for the tornadic supercell that would hit later in the day following this night of thunderstorms.
