A, F#m, D, E
Baby, tell me about Texas, back in the day, I can't remember
All I can recall is the stars stayed out in the day
And you, you were there, too, by the water in the sunlight on the sand

F#m, D, E
But that was so long ago, my mind grows dim
I won't be here much more, ain't that a sin

So, Baby, thank you for Texas, thanks for those things I could not recall
So, now when I go I'll know just what I leave behind

No, not all your stories, 'cause now I remember things weren't always so fine
But you, who could just humor me, an old and dying man

So thank you, Baby, thank you for Texas, thanks for the things I could not recall

And so, now that I go, I know just what I leave behind

Thank you, baby

  • What timing... just as I was listening to this song, my mom called. She's getting up there in years and her memory isn't what it used to be. This song is sad in a way and your rendition touching. I listened to it three times!

  • Wonderful lyrics Bruce! You've got a way of expressing things so beautifully in song. Really wonderful!

  • Nice writing, singing, and playing, Bruce.

  • great imagery in this song. very haunting melody.

  • that guitar sounds sweeeet bruce, nice song has a 50's feel to it

  • Sometimes my grandmother (mom's ma) doesn't remember my who her grandchildren are, and there are times when I visit and she asks who I am. It's a sad thing and this song makes me think of her. My other grandma (dad's ma)... well, I was just glad she could remember me the day before she died. Thanks for sharing this song. I must say you've for a knack for writing sad songs that talks about reality. Well done Bruce.

  • great finger pick'n bruce,
