The comments here sadden me a little bit.

I don't dispute that Duffy is beautiful and an excellent singer, but what you all must understand is that without the Arethas and Patti La Belles of the world there would be no Duffy. Several people have used what others have done in order to become succesful.

But we must never forget the first ones who created this pattern. Its like citing a reference in your paper. Its only right to give credit. Even though u give credit your paper can be good.

I agree with estelle. Sometimes its hard for people to get her point, but think of it this  way. Imagine that you spent your life and hardship working on the invention of the car. All of your frustration and and life hardship were put into creating and inventing the car, and then someone creates the hybrid in 5 yrs.and gets all the credit for the invention of the car.

Aretha franklin, dionne warwick and other motown singers are the inventors(cars). Duffy and Adele are IMITATORS (hybrids)

If you like Duffy's music, good on ya. Duffy herself has said it's more a 'tribute' to soul music than actually 'being soul music'. So seems to me this is a lot of hot water under a bridge ..or however the expression goes...

@ManilaSoulDude I guess you have never heard soul before either. Sould music has been around for about 50-60 years and you are really going to say some stupid shit like these two chicks are THE BEST that have done it? I guess they have a lot of opium in Asia...
