Here Grandmaster Eddie Chong demonstrates some Pan Nam Wing Chun Chin Na (joint locking) applications. What is unique to this branch of Wing Chun are its clawing and tearing hand motions and intriquete Chin Na / Qin Na (joint locking) techniques very similar to Eagle Claw Kung Fu. The Pan Nam Dummy form contains much clawing and eye gouging as well. All of the Pan Nam empty hand forms Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu and Biu Jee contain Qigong in them. Pan Nam (a disciple of Shaolin Kung Fu) did have a seperate Qigong form solely for developing Qi (internal strength) that he called the "Lost Treasure of Shaolin Training" called Five Petal Plum Blossom Qigong.

Pan Nam Five Petal Plum Qi-Gong Video Series

Learn from your own home at your convenience by yourself or with a training partner. After you feel comfortable with the forms and applications you can pay Eddie Chong a special visit to polish up on what you've learned.
Ironically, Sifu Chong, I find the the Pan Nam version of the Chum Kiu form quite different to the version that I've learned. Therefore, I dare not try to perform it for fear that I might execute it in a wrong manner, thereby developing bad habits that would be hard to break once I am finally corrected by you or one of your students.

I came out with Pan Nam Wing Chun instructional videos/DVDs that explain the forms in detail, step by step. The tapes cover Siu Nim Tao, Chum Kiu, and Biu Jee, the Dummy for, the staff form, knife form and a chi sao tape with fighting applications. I also made a tape teaching the Chi Kung that Pan Nam taught me, Five Petal Plum Chi Kung, which helps you develope a great deal of power if done once in the morning, then afternoon, then finally at night every day.

Pan Nam told me the Chi Kung he taught is the Lost Treasure of Shaolin Training. Info for purchase is on my website. Those tapes are good for you to try to work on so you will know what to expect when you see me or my students for corrections. This will make your learning go faster with us. When you return home, those tapes will serve as a reminder/refresher of what you learned while with us.

I want to learn the Five Petal Plum Chi Kung!
Right now I practice the simple "Three-Circle Stance", you know, the one where it looks as if you're holding an invisible ball. So far, I'm up to 25 minutes(with minimal muscular strain at the end of the session). I aspire to reach the one hour mark by my next birthday(10-29).

Sifu Chong, are there any Pan Nam Wing Chun teachers in New York City?
narayanr 4 years ago
The only ones right now, as far as I know, who teach the Pan Nam system anywhere in North America are my students and I. The closest to New York are: Canton, OH | Sifu Kyle Weygandt | (330) 492-0348, La Vergne, TN | Sifu Louis Williams | (615) 213-0703 and Flint, MI | Sifu Hamin Rasool | (810) 785-0909.
