This is sad. After losing a chicken yesterday, we set cameras up on the chicken coop, suspecting a racoon. Here, you see a hawk come in and take out my favorite chicken, a Black Wyandot named "Sassypants." The video is for informative purposes only. It's not gory, just very sad. I will be making some alterations to my chicken coop soon. For now, all the remaining chickens are locked up and quite safe. This was shot Feb. 18, 2010 in Port Orchard, Washington. If you are sensitive, turn down your sound.

  • About a year ago I looked out and saw a hawk standing on top of my coop just like the hawk was doing on yours. I didnt have a shotgun but I grabbed my little .22 rifle and missed on the first shot (which surprisingly didnt scare it away) but hit it and killed it on the second shot. I dont know what kind of hawk it was or if it was legal or not but I would do it again anyday to protect my birds. Sorry for your loss.

  • Yes your animal did suffer because you didnt put a roof on your chicken coop

  • @unodostres81 lol wtf is a chicken fish?

  • @mrcl55122ebay sorry for the loss of your chickens but..next time you eat a cow or a deer or a chicken fish i hope someone comes and snuffs out your life, too.. if birds can't eat then you shouldn't be allowed to eat either..

  • sad to hear her pass..even my dog is coming to the computer to find out what the sound is. She always comes forward when she hears an animal in distress...i know all animals must eat and this is the cycle of life.. just wish they didn't suffer.

  • As a chicken owner, I appreciate this video to help me protect my chickens from predator hawks...As horrifiying as it is, we have all been through this & I am so sorry that you had to witness this attack on your favorite chicken....In order to protect our birds, we have to know how they get in & attack.

  • mrcl55122ebay, you are seriously disgusting. i hope someone shoots you in the fucking head u retard. of course its not fucking legal to shoot a bird of prey. i honestly hope u get shot.

  • @janitabonn I did raise her since a chick, I think it has to do with the personality of the chicken, I raised all my chickens, she was the only one like that, When I picked her out among the other day old chicks at the hatchery, i decided to do a little experiment, I waited to see who came up to me, I put my hand in the cage and she came up and pecked me, I didn't want all chickens to be like that in case she turned out mean, so there you have it, she wasn't scared, the others were

  • @dlong1761 Oh no, you had a wonderful chicken. Did you raise her since she was a baby? How you make a chicken to be that special. I am sorry for the lost, chickens are adorable

  • We've had a hen taken by a hawk. The hawk ate only the meat off the neck and left the rest. I don't blame the hawk, chickens are delicious. As long as they don't kill my rooster Sasquatch, who's already escaped a fox.
