Dam on the Shenandoah River

I live near this dam that goes across the Shenandoah river. It is supposed to be a power dam but I am not sure how much power it generates and if the town uses any of it. When it rains alot and the river gets high, the sound is so loud and I can hear it in my house. i have never climbed down to the bottom of it to see the whole thing until today.
