People like these created music, due to the fact that Nubians were the first people on the earth, and that they had music from the very beginning. These Nubians align themselves with the natural rythms and vibrations of the planet. Those not of the planet can't comprehend. Why is the narrator comparing they're music with Europeans? His thoughts suggest an inferiority complex which usually lead to the destruction of original peoples.

@xyzneptune I guess it depends on your angle. As I heard it. I interpreted it as we enjoy music because we have a lot of time for leisure. I rather feel that this man holds them in high esteem, rightly so. We are fortunate to not hunt our food, nor need to do all the things related to that process. If there was any inference on inferior I'd say we are the ones who that should apply to as we spend so much of out time seeking to fault people for no other reason than our own entertainment.

@xyzneptune This is old footage from i guess 60's or 70's. There were still blatant prejudices of people even in western society in that time let alone Africa. One must put this video into context and know why there is the "subtle dig," it is because the idea of the "noble savage" was just starting to be criticized.

The narrator states "Music is important "even" to a hunter gatherer society. Doesn't this sound like a subtle dig, like they're inferior? Why wouldn't music be important to them. Can't people accept they're as smart as we are, and that they're way of life is an a sense superior to ours?

I guess the reality of that qoute is, that they're more concerned with where their next meal is coming from and how to avoid the many dangers that lurk within the forest etc & so on & on & on & on, yet "Music" is still important to them, to me, a musician, this makes perfect sense, as music has spiritual, healing & bonding connotations, and besides, it's just plain fun.
