  • BIG is beautiful!Without a doubt!

  • Too bad Norfolk Southern's N&W 1218 no longer runs. It last ran in 1992 I believe, then it went down for an overhaul, then Dec 1994 NS terminated the steam program when 611 made it's final run to Roanoke to be put on display at the VMT. 1218 was similar to this, a 2-6-6-4 I believe. However, NS is bringing back a steam program with limited excursions with TVRM locomotives 630, then 4501 and finally, 610. The future excursion routes are unknown at this time.

  • UNION PACIFIC BIG BOY

  • I bet firing that monster is a job and a half!

  • It's not the biggest ever built in the world, but the biggest still operating in the world.

  • Rodrigo Lara from San Diego will be one day the train engineer of this monster train!!!

  • @simhopp yes it is damaging money is a federal crime not joke, silly laws haha:p

  • Yeah, I've been following their progress. She is one of 42 such magnificent articulated locomotives. With a 4-8-4+4-8-4 wheel arrangement ( 32 wheels!! ) & weighing in at 260 tons with a tractive effort of 35000 lbs, loco 6029 is the largest locomotive in Australia, not even the largest diesels currently in service can match her size. Of the 42 built from 1952-1955, only 4 remain...6029 under restoration at Canberra ACT, 6039 at Dorrigo NSW, 6040 at Thirlmere NSW & 6042 at Forbes NSW. Check web.

  • its a challenger

  • I have to hand it to the British railfan group that built Tornado! They had to build it from scratch; casting & machining parts! I have seen Tornado in action on You Tube; she is a beautiful machine!
