She betrayed Hitler, not Germany. She had many years to be proud of it.

Marlene means FREEDOM AND LOVE. Forever.

To he those who call her "traitor", i say: If i was faced with the choice of being TRAITOR or NAZI, i frankly would not know what to chose.
My advice: If you believe she did the wrong thing (like i do), then forgive her. I LOVE MARLENE! It's time to close this chapter of last century, time to let the past be the past - look forward to the future!

My opinion: If you take ANY side in the war, its wrong. If people simply refused to fight and to kill, THERE WOULD BE NO WAR. Marlene was in a situation , in which any decision would have been wrong: If she had been faithful to her country, like Ilse Werner e.g. (great actress and singer), she would be labelled "NAZI".
But if an actress had changed sides and joined the enemy, like Marlene did, then she would be labelled "Traitor". You see? Everything you do is wrong.

And please do not tell me this shit like "the Germans and Japanese deserved it". This is a RACIST comment. If Hiroshima and Dresden was a "good thing", than maybe the Red Indians "deserved" to be exterminated by the Allies, too?
To the Germans i say: in my eyes, she is NOT a traitor, but she did the wrong thing. You believe the Allies were innocent - they were not. The enemies of Germany subugated half of Europe under Communist Terror. The Germans were right to combat the Communist threat.

This silly "traitor"-Discussion!!! Marlene took the side of our enemy in the war, which is true.
HOWEVER; she claimed she did it because she believed Germany was fighting for the wrong cause and the Americans for the good cause. Today we all know, there is no "good" cause, because millions of innocents on BOTH SIDES were killed, cities wiped off the map, homes destroyed, families torn apart, weaping mothers, murdered children ON BOTH SIDES. Get this into your heads! .

Can you imagine being older thus getting to an age and realizing all the people you had once lived and celebrated life with have all passed away? She was tired and ready to move on that's why she retreated to private life. Fame isn't everything to everyone, I think fame became unimportant so she prepared herself to be with all the people she once loved. It'll happen to all of us..
