  • Another miserable and farcical disaster, caused by our own utterly useless top brass! ( just as the BEF disaster was in 1940 ) and where the price for it, was paid, as per usual ,by our brave soldiers and not those responsible for the mess !

  • My grandad was wounded just outside nijmegen trying to reach the brave boys in the parachute regiment after fighting his way ashore in the first wave on gold beach with 1st battalion the hampshire regiment. He was 19. He inspired me to the point where I'm joining the army, I never had the chance to tell him properly and he died earlier this year, he was an incredible man who touched the hearts of everyone who knew him. RIP ernie boy, I love you and miss you more than words can say.

  • It may be a classic but i refuse to watch it. I'm one of those people who likes a war film with a good ending, like Battle of Britain

  • @AnAutumnsDay Are you talking about the movie or the "Market Garden"?

  • lukusism

That will be the PWRR then now the finest infantry regt in the British Army......I served in the Queens regiment then the finest in the Brit Army go for it young un...

  • OK - what do I need to say: My dad cycled up to Friesland to get food aged 9 with two small sisters in tow, his older brothers went into hiding to avoid working in Germany, my mum lost a brother to leukemia. Damn to all strategists. Let's just all agree this is wonderful film music. It won't ever do any of the soldiers who fought at Arnhem any justice. But I salute them all.

  • @b52gf16c fair enough but you can't really compare 2 countries like that. it's apples and oranges. hell i think switzerland has the best army in the world...for defending switzerland. IDF troops defend 1 small area against basically 1 enemy in the marines we literally had to be able to fight in any clime and place. i did mountain, desert, urban and jungle training. well you get the point. i never served with IDF troops but i did deal with arabs....not exactly the toughest foreign troops i saw.

  • @madmike19682003 Tennessee and a comercial airline hunnnnn. let me guess who you work for Maybe Delta since they took over Northwest. I was just in TRI Cities TENN fixing a plane 2 weeks ago, and I got back from Spain/Portugal 2 days ago on vacation. All kidding aside dont type who you work for its not a good ideal!!

  • @madmike19682003 i think the wifi is acting up so i'm gonna have to go slow. got out of the service after serving with a very diverse group of people which was a shock for me having to deal with stupid as well as smart people. something going to school with the sons and daughters of scientists and engineers didn't prepare me for at all. i served with all kinds on ship and shore. went back to school and basically became a jack of all trades but master of none. i feel like i did it all.lol

  • @madmike19682003 I should not have said that about the Marines and Navy, but I get defensive about Israel. Because if you have never been there you cant appreciate what the security situation is.You literally can not drive down the highway for ten minutes without seeing the Airforce scramble their jets to some perceived threat. Plus you walk into a mall in Tel Aviv if there are 2000 people there, 1000 of them will be Armed soldiers shopping also. We were born in the right geography in the US!!

  • @b52gf16c i was raised in tennessee by 2 great parents with 9 other kids. many of us were adopted and came from all races. we were raised devout catholics so that explains the school. i went to college for a year than joined the marines because i think everyone has a duty to help defend this country especially if you came from a rich or middle class background. and i wanted the travel and adventure to be honest. so yeah i was a romantic idealist you could say. did 4 years got out and went back.

  • @b52gf16c i never said anything about the u.s. in ww2. i was just saying you can't compare the IDF to our military as it's like apples and oranges. and the the trailer park comment was low considering your the most close minded and bigoted person i know. sailors are scumbags? marines are worse? all grunts are stupid? some generalisation and false. plus how would you even know?
