Just a guess, but I'm pretty sure this was meant to be a joke...not technically correct. I don't know, I thought it was pretty funny at least...

This looks like a big editing spoof. For one thing, why would American Idol have a special backdrop just for this one candidate? Secondly, in one shot you see the backs of heads that are seated too far apart to be the judges. Third, the judges used the same *exact* words after Amy Flynn's abstinence speech ("We're on the same page," "We're learning a lot from you," etc.). Finally the lighting is different between the judges and the preacher.
