I actually lived only about 15 or so miles away from where this hit. I hate to ask, but was it the Rountree family? I know a lot of people died in this tornado, but they're the only ones from Joplin I know.

@tornjakdaxter I also live in Joplin and lost a friend in this tornado (I wonder if we're thinking the same person?). I am lucky that I live on the edge of town far away from the tornado, but to this day, they terrify me.

I live in Joplin and I lost a friend to this tornado. Also, the hail damaged our renters house really bad and my dad was out for two nights doing emergency medical stuff for this. It was really scary.

Did you miss this tornado too Brandon? I came into the damage a mile East of where you shot this video, about 3 minutes after the tornado. Sends chills up my spine just thinking about the destruction.

then why dont you pay for them to rebuild with tornado safe house, people cant afford that. most people dont whine when they get hit, they say they will stay and rebuild. i want to bet you dont even live in the united states.

I am glad that you both are alright. Unfortunately for others, that is not the case. It was a really gut-wrenching feeling to be there. I was actually trying to chase the tornado from the north. The storm was moving way too fast, (50mph) as I core punched it, and that did not allow me to capture the large tornado on film. I ran into the damage path while trying to catch a peek at the tornado. My thoughts go to you and the people that were affected by this tragic supercell.
