Shortly before midnight on 3/31/08 Irvington Fire Dept. was dispatched by REMCS to a reported of a structure fire on Grove St. near Springfield Ave. D/C Hibbit hit a 2nd alarm on arrival with a well involved vacant two and half story frame dwelling. Exposure D-Delta already had heavy fire damage from a previous fire. This scene was just a few hundred feet from a 3rd Alarm fire on Grove St. the night before which burned out three dwellings. Fire extended into both B-Bravo and D-Delta exposure and also extended to exposure B-Bravo 1. A 3rd Alarm was hit bring Newark to Harrison Pl. to attack the heavy fire in the rear of the structures involved. A 4th Alarm was brought to the scene for manpower and relief purposes as an interrior attack was resumed in exposures D-Delta and B-Bravo 1.
