Meet Brittany Novotny, attorney at law. She lives in Oklahoma as a woman, but she was once a man. This is Part I of a two part story our local FOX affiliate is doing on her life. It is possible to be successful and be queer, even in Oklahoma. As one of her clients, I am proud to know such a courageous and smart young woman. @IntellectualAmy I know! The sad part is, we've had awesome trans people that have served as Prime Ministers, decorated British surgeons, politicians, and even 60s electronica musicians, but they never got media coverage. For 200+ years. At last is a very true statement. hahaha

My guess is though, would it ever be your good fortune to to speak with her one on one, as two people sometimes do before one forms an opinion either positively or negatively, It would likely be one of the highlights of your intellectual life. She is bright, witty, personable, well read, and committed to the people of her district. And yes, I 'have' taken the opportunity to seek out that conversation. It was well worth the effort.
