But these are mostly sterotypes.

and know nothing of racism. Your prolly one of those that as soon as "black person" is mentiond scream racism. You prolly think only blacks can be victims of race driven hate.

After that comment im 100% aware that your an ignorant young student. Your prolly younger than 32 and older than 14. Any and all knowledge you get of racism are propogandic lies fed to you from your so called history books and know nothing about skynyrd let alone have met anyone south of the mason dixon.

Certainly these guys were not racist in any shape or form ! I was a friend of Ronnie Van Zant just wasn`t in his blood at all ....

@vladamih - The irony is that they got a lot of hate and threats from the same racist hate filled klan members that were threatening black folks, because of their long hair. I know because even though I'm a few years younger than them, I got the same hate from rednecks when I had long hair back in the 70's.

Workin for MCA - Great song that really does tell their story. That was a ROUGH night club circuit they worked back in those days. Some of my kin are from N FLA and in fact one of my cousins used to party with them. They were certifiably NUTS back in the early days but that's how life was in N Florida back then. A bunch of long haired crazy rednecks...

Why are these guys given so much slack for allegedly being racist?Isn't The Ballad of Curtis Lowe , the song that proves otherwise? They were foolish to have all those confederacy flags as part of their stage scenery but I doubt Ronnie was a racist. The current, fake Lynyrd Skynyrd on the other hand seems pretty racist to me
