It's probably one of my fav of her many performances of this spiritual
-
One of the most controlled vocalists I have ever heard. Remarkable voice performing with grace.
-
i love that Zeiji Ozawa just sits on the podium and listens. very cool.
-
I prefer her sound now in her later years. She sounds more open than she did when she was young.
-
She is amazing!
-
@magymae Do you know her personally?
-
in her late years...the tone on home was as marvelous as any young child singing today!! brava!!
-
wow i would never have recgnized her simply by her looks - her voice still sounds youthful, however, it is visible her voice has gone into major decline since she has not been singing regularly for the last several years. Its a shame - she didnt have the maturity to get over herself and her stardom - unfortunately she has paid the price in the long run, but she will leave some pretty incredible performances as her legacy :)

@musikenergy to bad she can't do the same thing for Amazing Grace! talk about oversung and annoying!!
-
thanks God she has a micro... XD
Yes, turning to share with the orchestra is a wonderful gesture. Battle singing 'a capella' is always a joy and, for me, a highlight of every recital. Would have loved to catch this one live! Any other videos from this broadcast? Thanks so much for posting it.

I used to think this was one of the most oversung annoying spirituals ever as a music graduate. But she made me rethink the interpretation of this song. THANK YOU KATHY. Absolutely beautiful. And you can tell she means it.
