It's strange to see Ruth in period costume with a parka over it.

Well, everybody have their favourite scen and if the separation scene is yours, then I understand that you miss it. Others of us have other favourite scenes and as for me, the whole portrait is much more important than any special scene.
But the separation is always softened in movie adaptions, not only in this. The origin would be impossible on the screen. It is to violent, to threatening and the audience would just wonder why she goes back to him after that.

He lied about Bertha but he was not a habitual liar. What would be the use to tell Jane they would live as brother and sister? It is ridiculous even to suggest it, let alone think that Jane is fool enough to believe it.I wouldn't entirely object to this scene if it was presented as the passionate dreams that Jane has about Mr Rochester but I am annoyed that they sacrificed the dailogue of seperation (the center of the book) for this (just an erotic scene).Where are their arguments?

And, leaving out the origin, I much prefere a Rochester desperately saying anything to make her stay, before the one who threatened to rape her when she turned him down,
That scene is awful and Charlotte Brontë makes it very clear that it is not respect or empathy or even self worth that stops him. Only the understanding that it wont work and maybe she will chose to stay in the end if he plays his cards well.

Well he WAS a liar! First time I saw this adaption I thought this is not Jane Eyre. But the more I came to think about it the less certain I became that Charlotte Bronté would have objected this adaption. I think she went as far as she could in the time and was deliberately going very close to what could be accepted.

Si algún alma caritativa pondría subtitulos en español a estos videos se lo agradecería, mi nivel de inglés no da para tanto y no me entero de nada. Gracias.
