  • what do you do if all you have is a dollars times are tough.

  • @taralee0309

The only food item I can think of for you would be to purchase some rice. Once bag will feed you for a while.

  • Kraft dinner (Macaroni & cheese) is cheap and easy. You can always add cut up hot dogs (kids love that).. or cream of mushroom soup and a can of salmon to create a casserole. OR add some cooked hamburger, taco seasonings and salsa for a different twist.

  • Thank you so much for sharing these wonderful tips.

  • @voxgirl Great comment. The cheap foods like McDonalds and condensed soups and ramen noodles are sooooooooo unhealthy for you, it's disgusting. I'd rather buy some whole grain pasta, and go to town. Whole grain pastas, brown rice, cans of tuna and water. That's what gets me by in tough times.

Got all your proteins and carbs right there.

  • i love tuna with rice and its so cheap

  • @DiscountTrendsetter make noddles, flour, salt, water, better than those cup noddles in the video

  • @metallicarocks123 Walmart had KD on sale last week for .63 a box!

  • rowmen noodles?

  • If you have an oven or microwave with oven function, I recommend baking your own bread. It's super easy and super-cheap, you can have it with cheap veggies like potato or carrots, or eggs, or you make a tuna sandwich out of it...

And don't buy canned soup, cook your own. If you calculate the costs/valure per servings, making soup from scratch isn't just cheaper, it's also healthier.

  • 5 bucks? that's cheap?

  • She must be a choosy mother, because choosy mothers choose JIF. Good tips from the Discount Trendsetter.

  • @PjSparkle08 - My perspective on cheap food is to always be wary of "false value" - meaning that, one meal option might cost a little bit more than another but provide far more sustenance and nutrition. If it costs that extra buck to get whole wheat bread, for example, you must also consider that refined "white" grain loses 90% of its nutrition in the milling process. So really, the whole wheat is a far better value. Industries make a lot of money selling nutritionally empty food.
