The band was formed by a pair of high schoolers in Vallejo, California, drummer Louis McCall and singer/guitarist Michael Cooper. The two got their start as a backup group for the Soul Children under the name Project Soul. They began working with Stax Records staff songwriters, and while recording at Audio Dimensions, a Memphis, Tennessee sound studio, producer Ted Sturges both named the group (after an instrumental recording by The Nite-Liters) and produced their first album, Organized Con Funk Shun.

This was the song that reminded my ex of me and now I cry when I hear it. He passed away in a motorcyce accident and this song has me crying uncontrollably. I would answer the phone when he called and he would say "hey pretty lady!" I miss you Terric, RIP.

Wow this song brings back some of the best memories of my entire life,I was in love for the very first time fresh out of highschool and this was our theme song.....Sadly we stayed together 25 years and just divorced lastyear.....

This is music, not this junk these rap bands are playing today. These guys wore their pants where they belong and sang from their soul. Great memories of this and Love's Train.
