Research on alternate and renewable fuel sources continues to gain momentum amid increasing global demands for energy, while debate also heats up on the environmental impact of fossil fuel consumption and depletion of natural fuel resources. According to Patrick Davis from the US Department of Energy, the sun's energy drives most renewable energy sources, such as solar energy, wind, or geothermal energy(INT). And energy harnessed from wind may help us meet our growing energy needs, says Tony Asterita of Megenn Power- a wind turbine manufacturing company (INT). But alternate energy generation technologies, such as fuel cell technology, could potentially create energy from sources that would otherwise go to waste, such as gas generated at sewage treatment plants or trash recycling facilities. Scott Samuelsen from UC Irvine provides an insight into how a fuel cell could use these to create energy(INT).
