I put in the title Jennifer Holliday to be consistant with the other "parts"....It is,of course, Ben Harney, and cast.I always said, back in the day, if they only had this one song(Steppin to....)in the show that Broadway patrons would get their money's worth.Singing, and FANTASTIC dancin'! really gets the blood flowin'.

  • Why didn't Bill Condon keep the dramatic tension and amazing dancing Fatima came up with for this number in the film's final cut? I just don't understand some of his editing choices.

  • THIS IS THE "MOMENT" OF THIS MUSICAL, WITH ALL OF THE GIRL GLAMOR AND GREAT STAGING, THIS PIECE IS, WAS AND WILL EVER BE FIYAH! This is DREAMGIRLS! POW!

  • they really danced fanomanally

  • You should upload the whole musical.

  • @GarudaStudio , well they made their money back, at least..............

  • @lf1234 when a movie costs $75 million, you can't help but care what audiences, especially non-musical loving audiences, think. You really couldn't afford to make "Dreamgirls" as an indie film anyway.

  • @GarudaStudio and there in lies the problem; I think Condon cared too much about what audiences, mostly non-musical- loving audiences, would think. I wish an indie director had gotten their hands on this. Dreamgirls has always been a bit of an abstract, experimental piece and I think a radical, non-mainstream director would've made the truly definitve version of Dreamgirls.

  • @lf1234 poor test audience reactions forced them to cut much of the music out of the film.

  • OMG, I just saw the current national tour and this number was impressive but it's even MORE amazing here!!

I saw this original staging in the 1997 national tour but hardly remember it. They must've not danced it as well as it is seen here cause I would've remembered it for sure if it took my breath away as much as this grainy video.

  • Does anyone have a clip of the new opening of the second act from broadway when Deena gets lowered onto the stairs. I so need to see that again. It was breath taking

  • post OBC singing Dreamgirls!
