  • groove... unbelievable that this music existed so long ago and now that we have more resources to make better music it's all wasted on crap... absolutely perfect recording

  • omg dat trombone solo

Whoa whoa. Artists today are not skilled or creative enough? That's corporate control and restrictions on artists. Another story. I don't know how you would relate any of what I said to todays music. I don't know how I could explain it further to you. I'm not sure you understand. It is not a matter of opinion. When you say background that implies that it will be ignored. Todays society hates silence because it is "awkward". What musician would make music for it just to be ignored?

  • @ObeseSheep

Maybe it's foolish not to back down here, as there is no way either of us is going to change the other's mind, but I think you are underestimating the difficulty of writing, performing, and recording a piece of music versatile enough to be wonderful to listen to or to have in the background. Artists today aren't skilled or creative enough, or may just be too egotistical to write in such a way. That doesn't mean that has always been the case.

  • @Luckynumber78 It's not. Music is to be listened to not to fill the space while you do something else. No musician wants there music to be called "background music". Sorry to say but it's an insult even it is not ment as so.

  • @ObeseSheep

    Whoa, whoa, it's a compliment!

Naturally, if a rock and roll song sounds like background music, that speaks to a flaw in the integrity of the recording since rock and roll is meant to be rousing.

This isn't background music in a boring way, like elevator music- this is background music for the cafe in an old movie, the ones where Rita Hayworth's borderline burlesque is the background entertainment.

This is swing, pure and simple- the finest music in the world.

  • @Luckynumber78 whoa whoa whoa. nononono. Not even man.

  • Whoever did this cover gets it ALL wrong! The rhythm section is far too prominent (the drummer in particular is just shining his balls), pushing the horn pattern to the background which is the heart and soul of the piece.
