The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee has held the first public hearing into the mass shooting at Fort Hood Army base in Texas. Defense Department and FBI officials were not allowed to testify because of the on-going criminal investigation. Five experts on terrorism and homeland security spoke about why federal agencies and the military may have missed warning signs about the alleged shooter. VOA's Elizabeth Lee has the details.
