My latest reel.
All lighting, compositing/post production, plus matte painted backdrops and volumetric clouds by me.
Has been a great learning curve for me, this project. I've had some excellent advice from Andy Proctor, Hearl Hutchinson and Dan Lane.
Have applied many cool techniques from "Painting with Light" by John Alton and various Hollywood cinematographers from "Film Lighting". Sharan Callahan's chapter in "Advanced Renderman" is very useful too.

Modelling and texturing by: Hearl, Dan, Andy, John and Noel.
Animation by: Julie, Tim, John S, Chris and Carl.

  • Excellent , Awesome work :) , i am little bit confused in light wrap thing, how you have rendered it ? can be done by using white surface shader material ? thanks :)

  • @animationscope Lightwrap uses the alpha of the character pass as its basis.

  • holly crap that is amazing. What render engine u use to produce such a great renders :) amazing

  • @darecarce Thanks.

Rendered in Mental Ray. Nothing particularly fancy going on. I just watch a lot of films, pay attention to the lighting in those films, read about cinematography. That sort of thing.

  • when you render this did you render out each layer one at a time and overlap them later? or were you just showing the different elements in the scene

  • @Bajungadustin Yes, I rendered out the elements separately and compositied them in Softimage's FX tree. Some extra colour adjustments and effects were done in AfterFX.
