How to Patch the uxtheme.dll File (the safe way)

Are you bored of the plain Luna theme, want something different than the Media Center Edition skin, and just want to have any theme you want? Well, with this tutorial, you will learn how to patch the uxtheme.dll file the safe and easy way. PS: It said in the video that "Could not replace files" or whatever because I already did this process, and yours won't say that.

Okay, if you could not read the instructions in the video, or you just want them in plain text, here they are.

1. Download and unzip link 1, which is the replacement uxtheme.dll file, to the desktop.
2. Download and unzip link 2, which is the replacer, to the desktop.
3. Start the replacer.cmd file and type in C:/WINDOWS/uxtheme.dll and press enter.
4. Now drag the replacement uxtheme.dll into the replacer window and press enter.
5. Type Y as in YES.
6. Reboot.
7. You're all set!

hmm, this says for the uxtheme.ddl.file file for xp, i have vista, will it still work?

Does it work for vista cause i messed my computer up by trying to patch files and i just got it fixed and if i mess it up again my dad will kill me.

Also forgot to mention that before you run replacer, click start and run and type in %homedrive%%homepath% then goto tools and folder options and set it to show hidden and protected system files,then copy ntuser.dat to the C drive and name the copy ntuser.bak.Then goto c:\windows and copy uxtheme.dll, name it uxtheme.bak.If replacer doesn't work use recovery console on the Win XP cd to move the backups to their original spots.

If you get an error and it won't let you patch uxtheme, turn off your pc then turn it on and then continuously press and let go of F8 until you are asked what to do, choose safe mode, then run replacer.cmd. The reason for this is windows file protection is disabled in safe mode so you can edit system files.
