Five years ago, the World Bank forecast that Brazil would have 1.2 million HIV-positive people by this year. The Brazilian government responded with a series of bold moves involving the health service and citizens groups across the nation. As a result, the actual number infected is believed to be only 600,000 - half what was forecast. At the heart of Brazil's success is its drug-distribution programme.

"Access to free medication is a basic human right!"

  • Everyone should do this, fuck American capitalists. Africa, Asia, Russia & India should follow suit.

  • @bob555555 The incentive SHOULD be to help people Not to become a millionaire by abusing the health of another human being. In the old days the dentist for example was a government worker So he got paid by hour Now they earn on the work they do And it has been proven various times That people get their tooth taken out While the tooth was not that bad at all These demons mess up our body to get a PROFIT Health care should be done by governments not profit hungry business dudes who only see cash !

  • It's amazing how Brazil took action and changed its fate by simply providing free medication

  • Go Brazil! As other users mentioned, hopefully other countries will follow suit.

  • VISTA SEU PINTO!

  • @bob555555 A lot of their research gets financed by tax money that every civilian pays. And they could make a profit till expenses were paid Yet they don't as to them it's all business. In poor countries they can invent medicine too But lots of us medicine companies have bought a copyright on them without even using the invention If a poor scientist does the same find then he still can't use it to help cos there is already a copyright on that specific medicine.. Health CARE = care NOT Buisness

  • @xxxPassiexxx if they can't turn a profit, what incentive do they have to make new medicines?

  • Wear Condoms!

  • Well, Brazil is a VERY big place, with over 180m+ people, and look at those other countries they only have like 20-40m people in there countries.

  • @AllAboutBrazil

Your an idiot. Brazil is responsible for 60% of the aids in South America, NOT 60% of Brazil's population has aids!!! Learn english first!

  • Maybe if the girls out there closed they'er legs Brazil wouldn't be responsible for 60% of aids in south America. It would be so stupid to go out there just to have sex, and a lot of people do just that.
