@goodnamepending it depends on which recording you're listening to, but is there really a way to play Take Five? Last time I checked, jazz was one of the most colorful and expressive genres and not patternbased...

@v3teran Dude, same here, ive always loved jazz, and funk. Im in a funk band myself, but I will always be a sucker for a good riff....Metal is the shit, metal drumming and guitar riffing are just as good as any other genre, it all comes down to personal preference. But I wish I had some metalheads in my town that were at least half way decent at their instrument.....
