Mike Stroud and Evan Mast are then men behind Ratatat, one of electronic musics rising stars. The duos chest-pounding instrumentals and innovative hip-hop remixes have earned them serious credibility and fans in high places. Shortly after the groups formation they were signed to XL records and have toured with the likes of Daft Punk, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand and Bjork.

In this episode of Rehearsal Space Mike and Evan talk about the serendipity of their success and how their music always sounds like a really bad idea on paper. They delve into their creative process, sharing a few tips for innovative sounds and stress the importance of never losing your original musical intent.

  • I'm very pleased that they let their music do its own talking. I mean clearly I came here for an interview, but I think this is what I really wanted.

  • @pootinhammer Question: are those the only Ratatat lyrics?

  • What sets Ratatat away from other electronic bands for me, is they have a classical style, and how they can make each song have a different feel to their songs also a big plus for me is that they do not have the cookie cutter sound other electronic bands follow

  • @bernlin2000 listen to ratatat's song "seventeen years" and you'll know what hes talking about

  • @pootinhammer They've been together for 10 years, but ok :-)
