When your sales manager says "Let's get back to the basics." Or the owner of your business says "We're going to go back to the basics," what they are telling you is "I have nothing new to say." Nobody wants to go back to the basics, the basics are dead. The basics are totally dead and gone. It's like closing the sale or making a cold call, both of them are over. Cold call? Waste of time. Closing the sale? Nobody wants to be closed. Do you want to go to a department store and be closed by somebody? Do you want to go to a car dealership and be closed by someone? What, are you nuts? What you want to do is concentrate on relationships, concentrate on business social media, concentrate on the Internet, and concentrate on providing on providing value to your customer, so much so that they are compelled to buy from you. People don't like to be sold, but they love to buy. Move ahead from the basics to the fundamentals that will bring you into the twenty first century, not keep you in the nineteenth century.
FOR OVER A DECADE, each time it says, "What's your BIO?" -- I respond with exact same sentence. "Building relationships that matter; in business & in life."
Focusing on the relationships you build is timeless. The "how" (the vehicle with which you interact) may change, upgrade, be replaced, or new-versioned; but trusting relationships you establish in business and in life will transcend them all.

Social media is the way of the world and people buy from people not from companies or brands.
