This video is obsolete! DO NOT USE z4root!
Watch one of the newer videos!
e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIC9uN_0syg&hd=1

Using z4root (http://www.multiupload.com/BXZFJ4X8I4 free on the Market) one-click root to root an Xperia X10. Literally one-click in under 5 minutes.

If you've upgraded to v2.1.1 (2.1-update 1), z4root no longer works. You have to use SuperOneClick v1.5.5: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIC9uN_0syg&fmt=22

Rooting allows you to use applications such as tethering, Titanium Backup, etc.
It does NOT suddenly make the Market free, give you a pet unicorn, or get rid of your acne.

z4Root works on ANY X10 running ANY v2.1 firmware.
It does NOT work with the new v2.1.1 update. Use SuperOneClick v1.5.5 for that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIC9uN_0syg

DOWNLOAD: z4Root v1.2.2: http://www.multiupload.com/BXZFJ4X8I4

You also need to install the following free apps (available on the Market):
- BusyBox: http://www.multiupload.com/H6BC3DD9JE
- SuperUser: http://www.multiupload.com/VPOIIO723L

Rooting does NOT unlock your phone. You need to buy an unlock code for that.

  • @BluechipJ sorry, guess i didn't specify. I was using SOC. 1.5 didn't work so i tried the newest release and the error message i gave was for the newest SOC. I switched back to 1.5 and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the reply and all the help.
