A video of Life (Praan) as given by the Creator. Choose life. Celebrate life.

Lyrics to Praan, the Stream of Life.

The song is sung in Bengali and even then they adopted portions of this poem to fit into the song, but here is a translation of the poem that was the original basis for the song.

Stream of Life
by Rabindranath Tagore
Music by Garry Schyman
Sung by Palbasha Siddique

The Poem, Praan

The same stream of life that runs through my veins night and day
runs through the world and dances in rhythmic measures.
It is the same life that shoots in joy through the dust of the earth in numberless blades of grass
and breaks into tumultuous waves of leaves and flowers.
It is the same life that is rocked in the ocean-cradle of birth
and of death, in ebb and in flow.
I feel my limbs are made glorious by the touch of this world of life.
And my pride is from the life-throb of ages dancing in my blood this moment.

Here are the words in Bengali to the singing

Bhulbona ar shohojete
Shei praan e mon uthbe mete
Mrittu majhe dhaka ache
je ontohin praan

Bojre tomar baje bashi
She ki shohoj gaan
Shei shurete jagbo ami
(Repeat 2X)

Bojre tomar baje bashi
She ki shohoj gaan
dao more shei gaan

Shei jhor jeno shoi anonde
Chittobinar taare
Shotto-shundu dosh digonto
Nachao je jhonkare!

Bojre tomar baje bashi
She ki shohoj gaan
Shei shurete jagbo ami
(Repeat 3X)

Bojre tomar baje bashi
She ki shohoj gaan
Shei shurete jagbo ami
Bojre tomar baje bashi
She ki shohoj gaan
dao more shei gaan

English translation:

I will not easily forget the life that stirs in my soul,
hidden amidst Death, that infinite Life.
I hear you in the thunder.
A simple tune,
a tune to which I will arise (3x)
And in that storm of happiness
as your music plays in your mind,
the whole wide world dances to your rhythm.
I hear you in the thunder.
A simple tune,
a tune to which I will arise (3x)
————
This is probably the right translation although it does not have the universal message of Stream of Life

  • Gorgeous in every way. A poem that perfectly reflects the divinity in all living beings. Namaste.

  • @siddharthshetye okay seriously. God Is Beauty.

  • Why is god being dragged into this beautify poem? Please read the Bengali version, it has nothing to do with god. It's about humanity, nature and life itself. Do not corrupt the beauty by adding religion.

  • A beautiful composition in many dimensions... Bengali displays a highly refined culture, well articulated in the metaphors of Nobel Laureate Tagore. Thanks!!

  • Sorry...right.

  • Exquisite - absolutely beautiful - your work is par-excellence -

Praise God for the beauty that He has created for our enjoyment and for the Honour and Glory of His Name - All creation does shout "Praise Him" and we all will one beautiful day .. before His Throne too ....
