  • Very, berry good and could lead to a pre-rec course on what is a myth - a story with reason (or, to make it fit) is still with us today = test question. Maybe ask the class what is classic (vague) and what is The Classics (specific). Classic could be an ACCEPTED opinionated statement of what something is - 57 chevy is a classic, 54 vette is an original. A car > 20 yrs is a classic but not A classic. Old rock and roll are called the oldies not classic. Look to the artical and emphasis point

  • I really like this lecturer's style. He's passion and dark humour. Exceptional stuff. From viewer in Australia

  • Thanks for putting the set of lectures up. Its really great that laypeople like myself can have access to such valuable knowledge. We should be making a lot more history available to educate the population, make people more socially aware of things. Unfortunately all the education most people receive is through commercial TV programs.,,that is why we have so many ignorant people around.

  • Great lecture.

  • Wanting to learn more about mythology, I've watched a few of his lectures. I don't know if any of you have noticed, but he's ambidextrous. I noticed it pretty quickly, I don't think I've ever met anyone who's truly ambidextrous. Pretty cool.

    Also, good lecturer.

  • He's a very good lecturer and I'm working my way through the iTunes U set of videos with great enthusiasm. But I do want to stop him and say "Hang on!" a lot because he skips things (eg only mentions Hesiod's creation myth). He also simplifies some arguments (eg the Greek after life myth was so gloomy that Greeks turned to mystery religions) that are more complicated. I also get the impression he's more of a Roman specialist than a Greek specialise (eg calls Ouranos Uranus). Great stuff though

  • great lecture!
