My 2-year-old nephew already thinks his uncle's dope for riding a motorcycle (and being a childless uncle). Now he's going to think I'm epic cool beans for playing with trains professionally!

  • I'm a sophomore in highschool in pretty advanced and rigorous classes. I'm a decent student with a 3.5 GPA. I love using computers to my advantage and compared to your average teenager I'm pretty well rounded with them. I've been thinking about going into the computer engineering field once I'm older (it sounds like a pretty nice pay check too.) However, I'm not the best at math. I have a B- in algebra 2 and have to work very hard to get A marks. Is computer engineering for me? Thanks in advance

  • @kadhill I wish I had the Internet when I was that age. I'd have been a C++ ninja before I even got out of high skule. (Instead of an 8bit computer game ninja)

I'd say you're easily on track for engineering. As far as math goes, there are options of computer engineering these days, but in my day they treated it like communications engineering, so I took ALL the math courses in the faculty.

And precal didn't teach me anything useful but the idea is that it helps students in cal anyway

  • I am a sophmore in high school so far i have a 3.2 but it should go up to 3.3 maybee 3.4 and i go to an advanced science math and technology center in the afternoons............ do i have a chance to become an engineer? ;(

I like to party too so sometimes i mess up. Anybody have faith in me? I wanna MAKE MONEY

  • @dmz4144hen 3.2 is more than enough to give you a chance at a technology degree. But don't believe everything you hear about it being just a piece of paper. Putting some of the words on that paper onto a resume will make a world of difference. Hard work will pay off, although for me, it didn't until *after* I graduated.

  • Why Don't you Find a Good Company with a Good Salary? :|

  • @TheScourge077 God only knows--but I suspect that what He knows is outsourcing to Asia. For over a year I was sitting in the pumpkin patch, waiting for the Great Pumpkin, then suddenly, in as many days, I received 2 offers.

  • Im 3% Asian...does that qualify me ?

  • @themicrokernel Well, for one thing, it was a computer engineering course, and for another, a computer was commanding/detecting trains, lights, switches, etc.

  • Good, I like that you share this video, I wish success always Now he's going to think I'm epic cool beans for playing with trains professionally

  • I Really Like The Video From Your Now he's going to think I'm epic cool beans for playing with trains professionally

  • DCC, Digital Command Control.... I model trains.... And I'm NOT an engineer...

  • @BABarracus6 Thank you so much for that response. Bottom line, it's all about the mula baby

  • @Intraphilosophia winwinwinwinwinwinwinwinwin

  • I wish I was smart ...

  • @dmz4144hen I wouldn't say GPA is what stop people its calculus, calculus 2 and calculus based physics these classes are based upon how much you practice the problems in the books. Engineering is math and if you cant do the math anything else you do in the name of engineering will be impossible.

If you become a Mechanical Engineer you will see everything in calculus come back some where down the road don't have the mentality that you can forget everything you learn after finals.

  • @kadhill Ill put it like this if you are not starting calculus your freshman year of college you add a year to 2 years to what ever engineering school you will attend. You don't have to have an A in algebra but you need to be able to recognize where and when you need to use it in calculus. You also need to take trigonometry don't believe that BS that pre-calculus will do the job. Precal does not teach TRIG and you will need it.
