The Nation's Katrina vanden Heuvel notes that the media needs to focus its efforts not on the left-right divide, but the rich-poor divide.

yep vietnam bipartisin vote. and iraq. and all these wars that go unkown to the public that you mentioned. it was interesting how both mcain and obama were so into the bailout. the whole population is against it, but the "two" parties leadership is for it. paulson, roubin both goldman sachs. the key is for the public to recognize when the elite are fighting with each other and unite. notice how nervous they get about 3rd parties.

you are right, I remember Zinn's saying that when is about war, there is truly bipartisanship, it does not if you are dem or rep, black or white; patriotism seems to be understand as how much you agree with the us military policy; and just adding to your example, dont forget the all the US interventions -direct or indirect in LatinAm (regardless of the party in power) during last century, Mexi, Cuba, Grenada, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Panama, Chile that i can remember now, from bananas to copper

Sadly know. Proggressives have traditionally been the ones who got us into wars. Woodrow wilson ran on "he kept us out of the war" and then got us into the war. roosevelt got us into ww2. Truman into Korea. LBG got us into Veitnam, Jimmy Carted started funding the mujadin and reactivated the Selective Service. Obama was helped into office on the pledge to bring back conscription. see "united we serve"and his "call to serve" Cheers

aren't all progressives more into the anti war side?
when did that change?
we all know that the only people that get some benefits from the wars, are the blackwaters and the halliburtons!... and maybe some iraqi and pakistani corrupt goverment officials.
I think many progressive are love blinded by Obama (dont get me wrong, i really like him, i just hate war so much more!)

The "people on the street" would benefit greatly from a few relevant facts delivered consistently by "corporate media".
