It's called an electronic wind instrument. The fingering can be configured so that it can be played like a saxophone, clarinet, or flute and is tied into a sound generation system much like that for an electronic keyboard. There are almost endless amounts of sounds possible for the instrument including organ, percussive instruments, bagpipe, brass.... and gives us lots of flexibility.
