The sound of Reason is better than FL i used both programms for about 7-8 years. The sound of FL is to cold to digital most studio producers like analog warm sounds so they bought a analog mixer not a digital and thats what reason sounds like !!!So FL never had a chance in sound (evan with the vst instruments) in reason you don't need vst instruments (thats why you can't use them) the programm don't need ohter synth it has everything you need ! You only have to use it right !

For all of you that feel like reason is hard. Just try learning just the drum machine. (redrum) Once you figure that out. everything else will fall into place.Also, I believe that reason is the best so far as actual music compisitions. Fl studio is good for that dirty south type beats. It hits way harder than reason. But one major rule of beatmaking is: It's not what you use it's how you use it! If you have either program, you are in pretty good shape.

Nice video, reason is such a nice program. Cool that it can be linked to Cubase to so one can use both at the same time.Reason got nice presets to.Im a big fan of the subtractor. If you want to listen to some good electronic music you can check my channel and have a listen if you feel like it : )

do you have to record the stuff if you want it to be in reason or can you get all the noises from the program then mess around with them

@wolfatthedoor5 google Midi keys and download it. u can use your keyboard.. midi keyboards are a lot nicer tho. but this is free. ha

PLEASE HELP!!! I just bought and installed Reason Propellerhead 4 for my Mac. I don't have a midi or audio interface...all I want to do is create my own beats but there is NO sound when I plug in the lights....do I need anything extra or am I doing something wrong?

@The7thL, you probably could, as Reason does have a guitar synth. But I'm really only familiar with FL Studio. I've been using it for years and have made a number of death/black/grind/metal compositions. You can get it to sound pretty good if you have the right samples and plug-ins.

yes providing you have knowledge how to write death metal beats.. not sure how you would replicate double kick but it will be possible... basically you have 1000's of drum sounds and the timing etc is up to you.. if you use numerous sequencers at once with effects on each the possibilities are pretty much endless
