Elephants aboard the Ringling Circus Train stand in their own waste, may be chained for 60 to 100 hours at a time, and exhibit stereotypic behavior. (Footage courtesy of In Defense of Animals)
Having worked for the circus for a couple years I can say the animals are in no way tortured or abused. These animals are treated better than most people are.
The chains are there to keep them from off balancing the train, and they are let out of the trains on a daily basis to get exercise. The cars are cleaned several times a day as well.
I should've said "snooping around railyards at night"
and the chains, as unhappening as they are, are both minimal, and to keep a few several ton pacyderms from shifting to the point they roll the car off it's trucks. 9Train cars are not attached to their wheelsets, they rest on a pin, that way, IF the car were to be hit from the side and roll over, the wheelsets that weigh as much as the car don't come crashin through the floor and crush people like a cartoon safe)
And how long has that train been staqnding there? Did it just roll in? And why are you snooping around.
1) Odds are, this is trespassing on RR territory.
2) Those stalls get regularly cleaned out when they;ve stopped. However, Federal Railroad Association and/or Interstate Commerce Commision (now Surface Transportation) preven dumping waste human or otherwise from moving trains. That's why they get those big Dumpsters to shovle into. The swaying worries me some, though maybe to cool off...
Stop! Poor Obama has enough to worry about! He probably would try and handle this! If anything we need to be worrying him about what's happening to the human children.
the amimal welefare act says an animal only needs room for posture changes-turn around lie down . write president obama and ask for better treatment for these magnificent creatures
@toddf321 Gee todd, I think that depends on the woman's looks. :P
