hey, great video, couple things though, you're a photographer, surely you can appreciate good composition, your head is cut off and it's visually awkward. also your camera is on Continuous Autofocus and it keeps re-focusing, if you can, set it to manual focus with an apature of about f4 and pre-focus the shot. as for the M9-P it's an amazing camera, but you can have just as much fun with a used M8 or R-D1. As for glass you can find great secondhand LTM, even the old russian lens are great

Please turn autofocus off next time. Otherwise great video. I've ordered my M9 and videos like yours helped me to decide. Thanks.

Got Dawg. Is this "THE Rolex" of all Cameras? Im going to jack if someone has it! Thank You!!!

I think you are falling into the trap of comparing it to an SLR.
Its not an SLR, its a Rangefinder.
Rangefinders are great for size, and sound. I only shoot films on rangefinders, and once i started shooting RF i have never gone back to SLR, unless im in studio,.

Leica M9? Any relation to the pistol?

Good first impression review! I have used Leica's film cameras, mostly M6 and I have a lot of curiosity for M9-P. My ex girlfriend used to shoot M6 as well and she often talked about "spirit of a photography" and "getting in touch with your image".
With SLRs in the moment you press the shutter, a mirror is going to block your vision. Rangefinders make you more connected to the world you're shooting.
Someday I would certainly like to own Leica. It probably won't be M9-P though.
You should've set your Canon 5D mkII to manual focus. I find the auto-focus hunt annoying.

@dvamateur yep - should have (although it was a Panasonic GF1 not a 5D mk II)

could you imagine if it gets stolen or you drop it

@gibcoprobe66 that why I insured it - even for just the 2 weeks I had it in my hands :-)

shouldn't we praise Kodak for making an awesome sensor rather than praising Leica for the good body?

@NDSCollector I think its probably worth praising them both - the optics of the lenses from Leica are amazing and I think are a pretty big factor too but the sensor is wonderfully optimized for them.
