Tiling window manager for *nixes. Great if you don't like, or can't use mouse. Most useful on laptops. Combined with vimperator addon for firefox, or vimlike-smooziee for chrome, you can throw your mouse away (except for flash sites and youtube movies which can be only controlled by mouse :P)
Later maybe i'll make a better presentation of Awesome. This one was only for test of recordmydesktop :P.

  • Does anybody know what the wallpaper is? Mind sharing?

  • @MultiJamala This is Shodan from System Shock 2. Search for Shodan in google images, and you'll surely find it.

  • @Burningwrat Um... don't use fullscreen?

  • @shadowtaco28: both windows on first few frames are terminals. Topmost one with 'recordmydesktop' command (which was used to record this video, i think) and another with some man page.

  • one of my favourite feature: awesome makes it so easy to move clients between tags just Meta4+Shift+7 and off it flies, I always miss awesome when im forced to sit at rude machines

  • What are the windows on the bottem-at the start (and are they turmanels)??

  • @ErSandro

Give us some examples of "useless options". Customize is a part of open-source. Even then you could just use the default settings if you thought awesome is to hard to configure / uses useless options.

  • @Burningwrat you have google-chrome maximised. press ctrl + m

  • I played a little with awesome, but i found it complicated to configure. Too many useless options (imho).

Can I suggest you i3? There's a video tutorial on youtube, just search "i3 window manager".

If you're on debian you can install it simply tipyng "sudo apt-get install i3".

It's very basic, but still functional. Some day in the near future i'll also try musca.

    Cheers.

  • Awesome? i Dude. Ugly?
