The SS France was put into service in February 1961. At the time of her construction in 1960 she was the longest passenger ship ever built. This home movie was originally an 8mm film, transferred by The Transfer Place to a DVD using frame-by-frame technology.

  • She's already being torn into. The top two decks are gone, the mast is gone, there are roughly 16 holes in the hull, and the nose is cut off. It's a matter of months until the Norway is only memories.

You can see pics by Googling ssmaritime and SS Norway.

  • @Fridomfry France was the top best followed by the QE2. All gone now... :-(

  • France.Seeing her beauty makes me think about the happier times. France.

  • Beautiful video. France in happier times. France

  • Really a splendid ship. Nothing to do with the floating shoeboxes they launch now.

  • I traveld on he SS France on what they called the return maiden voyage. It was a most beautiful ship,

  • I worked onboard her in her second life as S/S Norway. Check out the vidoes of her I have posted.

  • I know that this is more lika a commercial but it is incredible and even though it hasn't got sound, I think it makes it look even more like a memorial

  • My grandparents had been on the France/Norway countless times. It was my grandmother's favourite.

  • SUPER VIDEO
